Top 3 Favorite People | #3 | Marat Safin
Usually, everything works quite differently than expected. I am totally happy with any scenario. In the unpredictable lies all the sweetness of adventure. Life is a great thing, with new knowledge, meetings, feelings, changes. You can travel, make friends, visit people. What more do you want?

Q: Do you pay attention to girls’ clothes?
M: I like girls who are dressed simply and without tons of make-up. And there is no need to fix the hair in a special style. I don’t like it, when at 10 h in the morning, the girl looks like, as if she’s going to a ball. Why would you need high heels all day? Unnecessary things should not be worn! jeans, Converse, all is simple and nice. Not the clothes make the man, but the personality.
- From his InStyle interview, translation from AnnieNik at MTF
The only thing we have left in life before death - it’s memories. Not billions, not cars, not restaurants etc. – Is dealing with people and memories of them. Do not be afraid of something new, new acquaintances, because you never know what to find, but where you lose. Those memories you accumulate, and then, when thou shalt die, remember that you have lived a wonderful life.
This past weekend a fan asked Marat Safin at the Caeser’s Palace tennis exhibition how much he has to do with sister Dinara Safina’s tennis career. His answer:
“Zero. But she’s texted me 5x to buy an iPad for her. Delivery boy.”
Asked if it is true or not that he enjoyed the night life and women so much that it affected his tennis, he answered without hesitation. I am gonna answer with another question to you, he said. If I drink, go out and do all the other things you said about the women, how would I have managed to be who I am? After listening to fellow competitor Jim Courier whisper in his ear the word talent, he continued. I would either be too talented or too organized.
“I got in trouble in Moscow but it’s OK, I can survive. Just some small problem that I wasn’t in the right place at the right time … I won the fight. I’m good, I’m OK.”
- Marat admits to being in a brawl before arriving in Australia for another tilt at grand slam glory.
I can’t believe this was exactly one year ago this week!
“This I think is the perfect timing, because I’m still young. I’m ambitious. I’m a different than another person who want to lay back and do nothing for rest of the life and talk nonsense on ESPN, talk about my match against Sampras. I will not do that. I want to achieve something else.” - Regarding his future off the tour.
Beautiful faces can’t last forever, women are beautiful only when they are special.
Men are beautiful too for the same reason, Marat :)

- Q: You spent a lot of of time in Spain. What is it that attracts you there?
- A: I like Spain for many reasons–the food, the culture, the people. Even the competitive spirit, the hunger to play, to train. Where else would I go? To Miami? There they play tennis in the morning and then go play golf in the afternoon. The evening is steak, cocktail or MacDonald.
